His name is Eddie Antar. His business tanked, filed for bankruptcy, he fled indictment for securities fraud. He was eventually returned and convicted.
The guy on the commercial was an actor, not Antar.

Just a thought... Any NY-ers (not the proper Manhattan type -- I'm talking Queens, Bronx, Bklyn) living in Minneapolis/St. Paul area? Just curious.

Now a days I don't think kids are even allowed to sit out on their front stoop. When I was a kid, we played outside until the street light in front of Kathy's house came on.
Oh and another thing, if we didn't know someone's last name, we'd politely address the adult as, Mrs. Kathy's Mother, or Mr. Tommy's Father. I'm sure it wasn't a NY thing but a cute tid-bit from my past.

I was born in Brownsville (it was sort of different then!) When I was a kid, people on the block used to leave their front doors open on warm nights. That's almost impossible to imagine these days.
Also, we knew that game as skelly. And let's not forget ringolevio.

I've heard both skully and skelly - I'll have to check out that website posted earlier for the other games. I loved melting the crayons and remember the cheaters used to put a penny in the cap. We also said Spaldeen. It's strange to think of the filth we used to crawl through or the roofs we used to climb on the get the ball back because no one had 25 cents for a new one. I remember the knife guy!! My father was a tailor and used to bring his scissors down too. My father also made custom suits for Eddie Antar. When he'd come to the house my brother and I would say that's crazy eddie?!? I love this thread.
