Job at Lincoln medical health center, Bronx
Hi,
My sister is going to join as a nurse at the Lincoln medical and mental health center at Bronx, and I have been reading about the area. Will it be ok for her to walk from the 149 and grand subway station to the hospital? She might have to be at work by 700 am , so early morning ?? I did see that teachers nearby havent had any problems...

Well considering the station is literally 3 blocks away...and there is a significant amount of teachers, doctors, nurses, students, and businessmen who use the station...I think she will be fine. Believe it or not, there are other people who are going to work/school besides her at 7am...hundreds if not thousands in the area. You'll be fine...and so will she. The Bronx is not what many people claim it is...you should go to the area and see for yourself...you'll be surprised.

That area is busy. Lots of people heading to work around that time. She should be fine. Plus its an improving part of the BX.

She'll be fine. I used to go there for clinicals in the early morning. There were always swarms of people around anyway.

I sure hope Lincoln Hospital has improved, back in the day the common thought was if you've been shot and the ambulance takes you to Lincoln or Bronx Lebanon, you were as good as dead, as for the area, as other posters have mentioned the area is busy with students, teachers, and doctors, she should be fine.

well...thanks for the heads up.....she has stayed in Philly in University city and we know that all parts of Bronx are not bad....its just that I dnt want her to get targeted initially when she walks around coz she wont know the place ........( someone had mentioned in an earlier post about walking purposefully like you know where you are goin )......

Very true! As a side note, I always "walk like a crackhead" if I'm out late at night. But the one time I let my guard down (at Gates & Thompson in Bed-Stuy no less) was the only time I got mugged. But needless to say, you're sis will be fine in that area and at that time.
