I agree. It is a shame to see these children cause such a ruckus around 3pm every day. It is usually the worst on Fridays. The cops rush them to go home, but they would rather stay hanging out and waiting for their friends that come out the next period. Most of the time, these kids are undisciplined by anyone.

Shes looking for a safe area with lower rent. Maximum rent about 1,400 that accepts section 8.

Nothing's changed in all these years and nothing will change until the hoodlum lifestyle is deglamourized by society.
We can't wink at "bad boys" and then expect that the kids won't note our hypocrisy and our confusion and then try to "please" us by imitating the "desirable" tough guy culture that they are seeing all around them: the movies, the rap, the TV, the military, the wild kids in the schools and the parks etc ad nauseum.

Check the past threads about good areas in the Bronx for some recommendations. I am not familiar with the Bronx but I do remember that Bedford Park and Parkchester are supposed to be safe, reasonably-priced areas.

1400 will get you into very decent areas in the bx - Parchester, Morris park, Pelham Pkwy (further east of wpr) etc and many rentals in residential baychester. However, throwing section 8 in is another thing altogether since section 8 and "decent/good" neighborhoods/building, are virtually parallel lines....

1400 can also send you to neighborhoods near Yankee Stadium where massive development projects are dominating. Remember, if you pick areas in the Eastern Bronx, you will be further from Manhattan.

Well, the OP mentioned his/her mother just wants to move to a "safe" area close to a bust/train stop. You know very well the nabes I mentioned >>>> in safety than the stadium area - even with the "developments". The stadium area still has problems

There might be problems with parking and safety, but there is a transit police precinct at the Yankee Stadium B/D stop. And cops are stationed in the area most of the time due to the Yankee games and the Courthouse area.

It's refreshing to see people being honest about an area, rather than the usual "Oh it's not so bad, I drove through there once and didn't see anyone shooting up..." etc.
The Topping/ Weeks / Monroe area is a heroin hot spot, and the methadone clinic, Promisa, is right up the block on Clay Ave. The area has a lot of shootings and robberies. I would look elsewhere.
