I think the country could benefit from term limits in congress. A lack of term limits often leads to more corruption and back room dealing.
In NYC I'd like to see Bloomberg elected to a third term. He has been good for the city and I have confidence in his leadership during tough times. Doing what is best for the city is not always popular.

I think the term should stay as it is. like jaw said it's room for more corruption. What if George Bush Wanted to get a third term of being president? How many of you would stand for that?
It's not too different until the cat is out of the bag, all the corruption in fake mortgages was unknown until we all see what happens. He maybe good for the city, but it's more time for him to be corrupted.
I'm nor for or against it, politics is politics, they ALL are the same, say one thing and when they get elected do another.
that's my .02

It should stay 2 terms as it is now. No other mayor has tried to do that, why is Bloomberg so ambitious ??
He's been in office for 2 terms already.
I think he was good mayor. He's changed a lot.
But I'm not that impressed. Time for a new mayor

Two observations about term limits:
One, Everybody wants them -- until the day they actually like the incumbent.
Two, On paper, they should not be necessary. Isn't that what elections are for? Isn't every election, in effect, the incumbent "re-applying for the job"? Shouldn't we "fire" the bad officials and "re-hire" the good ones?
Term limits are a blunt instrument designed to stem the power of incumbency, which itself is due to partly to gerrymandering and incumbent fund-raising advantages, but mostly due to voter apathy. An appallingly small number of mostly self-interested people decide most local elections.
Bottom line, if more people payed attention to their elected officials and actually voted, incumbency wouldn't be so powerful and term limits would not be an issue.

No term limits. Election day and primary day are two days for term limits.
Let Bloomberg run in 2009 and vote him out.
