Graffiti is more of a culture here than it is in Chicago. They remove it, but it just gets tagged up again.

Tell me about. Graffiti disgusts me everywhere I see it. I don't understand how people could deface such beauty.
If you want to leave your mark, do something good in your community and be immortalized in your neighbors's eyes.

They need to pass a stricter lawyer that will deter teens and young adults from writing graffiti on public and private property.

The title of this thread is misleading...and after seeing who started this post I was not surprised. I see more graffitti in the Bronx....and around the city for that matter...just call 311 and they take care of it. Overall however, crime is DOWN again for 2008, with a MINOR increase in murders. Quality of life in the Bronx is up DRAMATICALLY, as the new housing and faces are making a big impact on the community. Greening is becoming the Bronx's past time, with the creation of new parkland, waterfront access, clean up of the Bronx River, massive tree plantings, green rooves, and now the 1st building in the city with wind turbines to produce power will be built in the South Bronx! So you can either focus on a narrow segment of a MINOR increase in violent crime and create a flashy title for your thread, or you can actually KNOW what is happening in the borough, crime is DOWN for the umpteenth year, quality of life is up BIG TIME, and the borough is improving literally every day. But hey what do I know..I am just a local who chose to stay and help make things better...

Police say the Fordham-Bedford area has seen four murders in just over two weeks. The most recent killing was of a young mother who was dismembered and left on the roof of a building. Residents told police officers at the forum that they need to patrol the area more often and respond to emergency calls quicker.

Not to mention the deadly double shooting that occured on Southern BLVD.

Folks the Bronx is heading in a downward spiral. The murder rate increased last year and it will keep increasing. There is more prostitution and petty thefts. People are now resorting to stabbing and using blunt instruments to attack people. There are also way to many guns on the streets. As crime increases in the borough, and rents decrease in more desirable areas, people are going to move away from the Bronx. With the decreasing police force, and the economic troubles, the worst is yet to come.

Yeah I heard about that woman on the roof. It was on the news a lot. That actually seemed like an okay building. It was the vibe I got from looking at the news and the people they interviewed. I think it was on Marion.

But Mario its interesting how you fail to point out how people seem to care about their neighborhood and are seeking help from the cops.

What does that have to do with anything?

People in Fordham-Bedford have been holding meetings for years to discuss violent crime, even in 1990. It didn't stop the 40 homicides there.

Hehe..I am glad to see SuperWario is still on his quest to spread misinformation and lies. If anyone actually did the research..crime is DOWN across the city including the Bronx! How does one equate condos in the South Bronx being sold for $395,000-$795,000 (all sold), a new University and campus, a new Target/Marshalls/Best Buy/Toys-R-Us, parkland, tree plantings, green rooves, safer schools, new housing, and retail as "a downward spiral?" Anyone reading should actually READ and RESEARCH and not take the opinions of many posters on here as gospel. If anyone would like the REAL DEAL about the Bronx, and South Bronx in particular, I have a plethora of ACTUAL INFORMATION available, and not just my 2 cents based on hanging out with the homies/drug dealers at 4am.
