Thats the Bronx in a nutshell. You have so many bad intersections, that you just end up calling an entire area bad. You could name a bad block in Mott Haven, one just as bad in Soundview, another bad in East Tremont, or go west to Morris Heights, etc etc.....too much poverty in the neighborhoods.
Yup that 183rd stretch is bad business...

Section 8 is such a mismanaged bureaucratic mess, let's not even get started on that. I don't think its a bad program at its roots. It's very well intentioned but its so poorly run. They really should just blow up the whole thing, and start something else that is better organized.

I agree. It's actually a headache dealing with them. And when you call them, they give you an attitude like you're bothering them or they don't answer at all. Very poor and unprofessional work ethics.

Oh by the way...section 8 money is NOT guaranteed money as many section 8 voucher holders may tell you in order to convince you to give them the apartment. Theres more to it than that. There are alot of underlying issues associated with section 8 tenants that make it a bad deal in the long-run. Landlords on this forum may know what I'm talking about.

Absolutely true. I see homeless people on the benches in front of the eastbound Bx12 University Avenue Select Bus stop.

I agree with you SuperMario on the fact that I've never thought 170th St to be so bad. To me, it's the nearby blocks like Marcy Place and East Clarke St that are bad. When I'm on the 4 train, I could see a new apartment building already attacked by graffiti.

Good thing i didnt take my friend to these places. He was visiting from LA and wanted to see the hood here. Not sure why, but people have a fascination with nyc ghettos. He also wanted to go to rucker park and the cage. Too much above the rim and new jack city watching lol

Are you reading my mind? lol...

I remember when I was walking to 170th from 167th and Jerome, passing Marcy Place and saying "Darn I wouldn't walk through there."

I also saw 3-4 prostitutes on Jerome in between the 183rd and Fordham stops. Then I saw one a little pass Fordham and Jerome. I'm thinking we may see a rise in prostution, as people would do anything to make ends meet.

What time of the day or night was it? Was it really late at night? I gotta say I haven't seen too much prostitution around Fordham/Uni Heights. But then again I'm not usually on Jerome. I try to avoid it. Usually no reason to be around there, unless your getting off the train, or are trying to get your windows tinted, lol.
