It was a little after 12 am.....but they could have just been couples. Because I was walking on Jerome towards Fordham, and I would see cars parked with the lights off. But I peeked in and I saw some stirring inside. And I could see women in every parked car I passed. Some of them stared at me, and others were not looking in my direction. But I found it funny that these were the only 3 or 4 cars parked on Jerome and all had their lights off. So they could have been prostitutes or just couples , IDK. But when I got to Fordham, I saw a prostitute walking around.

I see alot on Fordham rd. And also St James Park is a hotbed for prostitution.

I've heard that St. James Park has been a hotbed for prostitution for the past few decades. But another park, Devoe Park, isn't all too perfect either (despite being close to Fordham Hill Oval). It has drug and gang activity as well as many teens hanging out during the summer.

This was bound to happen eventually, though. We've been living in the Golden Ages as it pertains to crime here in the city. The city went from what, 2500 homicides a year in the late eighties and early nineties to something like 400-500 last year. But I figure if anything will stop people from moving here, it would be street crime like muggings and burglaries. The natives I know who have been mugged seem to chalk it up as something that will happen very occasionally, but transplants are usually on the first flight or train out of town!

From now on, we should expect to see slight or maybe even more significant upticks in crime. With half of NYC kids not even finishing high school, demographics are bound to catch up at some point.

Yup....at one point it was the meeting grounds for the Dominicans Dont Play (DDP). I live nearby Devoe Park. I dont like hanging out there at all though.

I've heard that Devoe Park drove away most mothers with young children thanks to stuff like this.

How is the Bronx as a whole suppose to grow and change for the better if we don't displace the undesirable types that destroy communities such as the ones mentioned above in graffiti vandelism?

As a result, when a classy prospective tenant views a vacant apartment in the area and sees graffiti all over the place, they get scared away and assume the neighborhood is bad and winds up not moving into the neighborhood. People are who make neighborhoods nice or not. Too many of the bad type in a community creates a negative trend thats very hard to reverse.

Like you said it might have been just couples. I would have to do research to confirm, lol. But I'm not going to do that.

If it is happening it wouldn't surprise me at all though Jerome gets very desolate at night although there is still a good bit of car traffic. So its perfect for prostitutes. Fordham Rd is like that in patches too.

It could be prostitutes. I live there and I do see some. I wouldn't say it's a "hotbed" - that's more Hunts Point I would think...

I wouldn't go peeking into cars though! LOL

If we were talking stereotypical, we would think Hunts Point would have most of the prostitutes. But nowadays, with the cleanup of Hunts Point, I've noticed more and more prostitution and drugs in areas such as Jerome Avenue underneath the (4) line.

Yes that's what the other poster was saying... I'm really not that up to date with prostituting ...

I don't utilize that business!
