Exclamation Moving Out For The First Time

Well im 16 years old && i graduate high school in 2010. I live in CT [Hartford) && Me and my best friend are plannin on movin to the city when we graduate....I’ve been here my whole life and it’s time for a change. I don’t know where to start. We want to live in the Bronx...close to fordham && other places close to the subway and shoppin areas. Do I find a job first? My goal is to leave by the end of August. Can you lead me in the right direction? How do we go about doin this?
Should we look for the apartment and jobs at the same time?

I recommend just finishing out HS first. You still have a while to start thinking about that.

First, you should finish high school. You don't want to be stuck in NYC without at least a high school degree. You'll feel uneducated, and you'll only be able to get the worst, lowest paying jobs.

Second, you should start earning and saving money. Which means a weekend job if you can, or at least summer jobs.

Third, unless your parents co-sign, you won't be able to get an apartment without a job, so as you end your senior year, you can start job-hunting. You're close enough to be able to come into town for interviews.

Totally finish high school...but then you did say you were going to finish first...so next thing...you should def look for a job first...you can always commute until you find an apartment! In terms of apartments I live near Fordhman so remember my post and get in touch when you are ready, I'll be happy to help show you around the neighborhood!

Best of luck to you girls!
