Thankfully, I never get on any subway trains that fulfill any of the requirements you listed.

I love the subway and don't even mind it during rush hour. My morning starts earlier than most since I'm a teacher so it's not usually jam packed.

But imagine a teacher who's 24 who has feet problems an 80 year old woman would have, lol. The 4 train is always crowded when I take it. I usually get one of the very few seats left, but it's surprising how packed it is since I'm going to the Bronx and not the way most people are going. It's filled with mostly students (this is at 7am). A lot of them going to Bronx Science.

I guess I look tired when I get on and there's no seats. Men are usually pretty nice and give up their seat for me. I don't know why, since I'm just standing there. Maybe I look more tired than I realize? lol

I'm sorry about your feet problems, and I'm not trying to be a b, but I don't think people should give up their seat because you're a woman (they don't know you have feet problem).
There are times when I'm cranky, exhausted, feel crappy, etc., but I don't expect a man to give up his seat for me.

I didn't say I expect it. I just say it's really nice of a guy to do that. Not many men left are gentlemen. Seems to be a thing of the past.

We interrupt this thread for the purpose of adding our .....
Moms (or dads) with kids? If you didn't pay a fare for that child, then that child shouldn't be sitting in a seat when adults (who DID pay a fare) are standing. So sit that child on your lap, dagnabbit !!!
We now return you to our regularly-scheduled program.

i agree if it's a small child, but when it's an older child I sometimes surrender my seat so that the child can sit next to mom and dad.
i sometimes even double up myself where i surrender my seat for the child and then sit in my girlfriend's lap and she treats me like a kid.

I agree with Jax.
Men aren't exactly boulders either. Many of them have their own problems, and alot of them perform physical labor at work. So men are usually beat up on the way home. You can't expect a man to know that you have feet problem. Just like you don't know if the man has a problem of his own. But guys do not have to give up their seat just because you're a woman. What does being a woman have to do with anything?

Personally I only give up seats for PREGNANT women, handicapped or the elderly.

I just think it's pretty jerk-ish when a guy runs and takes the seat before you when it's obvious you're going for it. It's a shame there aren't many gentlemen in this city.
