I'll hold the door for anybody, I'll always say please and thank you, and I would give up my seat to people who actually need to sit. That I hope is enough to make me a gentleman.

I wholeheartedly agree. I also wondered why a man in this day and age must give up his seat for an able bodied woman. Unfortunately when I was pregnant the only ones that EVER offered their seats were women, and mostly latinas only. It was HARD to stand up with that big a$$ belly!

Wow, I do let people on and off, I just make sure I secure my spot at the door.

Yup, that's probably too big to push. I'm only 5'2" so I reserve my obnoxious pushing for the shorties, probably under 5'9 LOL.

In a subway system carrying nearly five million people a day (the latest stats are actually 4.9 million--which is close enough!) there are plenty of people who not only CAN push you out of the way...but WILL.

I don't think it's being a gentleman though. Holding a door open is being a gentleman, but I think it's polite to hold the door open for anyone, male or female. I don't think that a man who DOESN'T give up his seat, isn't a gentleman. Does that make sense? LOL I'm tired. long day.

[quote=gaia227;5912093]I don't think men should give up their seats for perfectly healthy women. I am a woman and it kinda embarrasses me when a man offers his seat to me and i will usually refuse. I can stand for awhile. Women who feel like men should offer them their seat need to get over themselves and stop feeling like they are entitled to something.

I agree completely, and I agree with SuperMario. Mario, you not giving up your seat to women doesn't mean you're not a gentleman.
I also think it's a bit insulting offering me a seat just because I'm a woman. It's nice and all, but just because I'm a woman, you think I can't stand??? I'm perfectly capable of standing, thank ya very much.
