What are you talking about? Theres crime in Bensonhurst, Bay Ridge, and Gravesend. I've lived in all three of those neighborhoods, so don't get me started on those crime occuring areas.
I've had more problems and been a victim of a crime in those neighborhoods 100% more than I have been in Flatbush.
What I was implying is that it is Brooklyn, crime happens everywhere.

Are you kidding me? You're comparing crime in gravesend and b'hurst to e. flatbush? How many murders in this week itself have been on the news about e. flatbush. Can you mention any recent crime in any of those areas. When unsavory characters walk through those areas they know they are being watched. Nobody reports crime in e flatbush. It's part of the whole no snitch informer thug code. I'm guessing you're not from ny. That's probably the most idiotic statement I have ever heard. What type of problems have you had in those areas?

I grew up in Bensonhurst, 18th Avenue and 60th Street. I went to PS 48 on 18th Ave. My father still lives in Bensonhurst with my grandfather.
I probably didn't grow up here? You don't what you are talking about!

I also spent alot of my childhood in Sheapshead Bay and Brighton Beach. Now I'm in Flatbush.

The same no snitch rules go on in Bensonhurst, Gravesend and Bay Ridge for the same reasons. Drug dealing goes on just as much in those neighborhoods if not more. They got their own gangs too.

Here are some experiences I remember growing up in Bensonhurst:

I was robbed at gunpoint coming home from my Busboy job at L&B Spumoni Gardens in 1997.

My neighbors car was fired bombed because he was in a bad relationship with an organized crime family in 1990. It was blown up 10 ft. away from my basement apt. with three babies sleeping upstairs from me.

I've seen hasidic jews gettin beatin with bats by Italian kids just cuz they were Jewish in 1995.

An African American, Yusef Hawkins, was beaten cuz he was with an Italian girl around the block from my house when I lived on 20th Ave and 78th St in 1989.

In 1991 Al Sharpton was stabbed in broad day light around the block from my house.

The people of Bensonhurst, Gravesend, and Bay Ridge are violent and commit much more random acts than Flatbush does.

You don't get it, the media still portrays certain demographics as "worse than others" and you eat up every minute of the Prime time news.

You have to know that you're insane to mention e. flatbush in the same sentence as those areas. How did you wind up in flatbush? I'm only 23 but I have heard baout the incident yrs ago. I understand they were in the neighborhood to cause trouble. I'm not racist but what is a black guy doing in b'hust? C'mon. As for Sharpton (you couldn't be fan of his and be from b'husrt) he's a troublemaker. Those instances were yrs ago. How many times have you heard about crime in e flatbush this week? Let's see, the cop killed by the guys, storeowner shot, and kid shot dead sitting in a car on e. 31st. Didn't the cops kills two siblings who were shooting guns in e flatbush recently. I'm not equating it to race either. I work with black guys. E. flatbush is low class. You want to see good blacks? Go to baldwin long island. Those people are good and have nice homes, good schools and work hard. I went out there for a funeral.

You are a bigot and you have no right to judge east flatbush.

Yusef Hawkins was in Bensonhurst walking an Italian girl home after their date.

Your ignorance is making me sick.

Bro, I'm not a bigot and I don't appreciate that. Why, because I say a black area is bad? I probably know more blacks than you. I work with black guys and have black friends. Did I mention the funeral I went to. Maybe you're the bigot for thinking all black areas are crime ridden. Any ny'er will tell you that e. flatbush can't compare with gravesend, dyker heights.b'hurst,or marine pk. It's a bad area plain and simple. I will ask an older person about the yusef hawkins incident. I'm fairly sure the girl wasn't his girlfriend.

Its so obvious and you keeping making it more obvious in your reaction.
You went to a funeral?
When did dyker hts and marine park get thrown in the mix?

And if he wasn't walking his girlfriend home he deserved to die because he was in Bensonhurst? yeah your not racist.
And cuz Al Sharpton is a "trouble maker" he deserves to get stabbed. Not only are you racist, but your twisted in the head.

Sorry for intervening in this discussion but I find it troubling that someone is stating that an individual should not be in a neighborhood in any town in any city in any state in these United States because they are of a certain racial background.

The US Constitution gives any American a right not a privelege to be in any public territory in the USA. Here we are talking of rights. Prudence, unfortunately, has to be exercised if statements such as the one above, represents the typical attitude of hoodlums in any area, however. Nevertheless, it is someone's right as a citizen to be in any area including Bensonhurst.
