People in other cities, who don't necessarily make more money than New Yorkers, are living better than we do. Big houses, cars, and they seem to have less stress. We make good money, but we just don't have anything to show for it.
If you need a big house and cars Nyc is not for you.
You may not have as many material things as others, in other cities but you have more life, opportunities, things to do. And yes many are free and low cost. You don't need to be rich to enjoy this city.

I just returned from a trip out west to visit friends. On the way back, I stopped at another friend's house in Iowa. I was once again confronted with the fact that I live in a 300k box while for the same money they have a nice piece of property, beautiful deck, large garage, plenty of parking, and extra bedrooms for guests. One day... one day...

Ever been there? Iowa's awesome. I've never had a bad day there. Although I understand that there's people who prefer fighting with rats for sidewalk space, smelling garbage everywhere in the summer, and enjoying their 10sq ft balcony with the view of the building next to theirs over BBQ'ing in a pristine backyard with 20 friends every weekend and being able to pull into their driveway after a long day without circling the block 20 times to park then listening to your upstairs neighbors keep you up all night.

its still iowa tho, whats in iowa?
and who says u gotta live in nyc and love rats, theres plenty good cities that are more affordable and less stressful, iowa is overkill, unless ur really into country living
I'm flying out to Austin Texas tomorrow and later on I will also be in North Carolina, looking for new opportunities, their is not much here in NYC unless one is creative or born into money. But to be honest is that all I want is lebensraum.
i been to places similar to iowa, if u like it tho then thats all good, im jus sayin theres many places that can offer iowa style livin, but still not in the middle of nowhere
