I think that tpk is doing alright.

I once knew someone - from whom I have since happily severed the relationship - who would eagerly await the delivery guy, not so much for the food, but so that she could unload all the pennies she accumulated from shopping during the week.

If, say, the bill, was $8.65, she would give 8 singles and empty the pennies jar in front of the guy and proceed to count 65 pennies. Then, for good measure, or I guess, for what she would consider a display of generosity, she would find a dusty quarter from beneath the broom closet where she kept all her loose coins and give same as a tip.

And I'm not talking in the 80's or 90's, I'm talking two years ago.

I frequently order delivery and generally tip 20% but more often add a dollar or two extra.

There's a difference between handing the delivery guy spare change and writing-in a tip on a charge slip or on Seamless Web.

Good rule of thumb, just round up to nearest dollar. No change!

Small pie is $12. so I give the guy $15.

Sometimes I order from the local diner and the tab is about $16. so I give $20.
