best underrated steakhouses
it seems once a restaurant gets a nod from zagat, some tend to get comfy and don't continue their excellent cooking. anybody have experiences from lesser known steakhouses in the city? i enjoyed peter louger's (bk) and markjoseph, never been to smith & l's though i hear it's not as good as the hype..there is a pretty popular kosher steakhouse in the middle of times square that we strolled in and forgot the name that was great...looked like a hole in the wall, but great atmosphere once inside, i prefer these type of undiscovered places, if there are any good ones left.

I second Uncle Jacks and agree with the previous poster--pricy but to be expected I guess when you go to these types of places.

Any steakhouse worth its salt should be at least somewhat pricey.

Tad's used to be really good back in the day. Never steakhouse quality, but still good. It's garbage now though.

New York Palm One(the original), a lot better compared to other Palms for some reason.

Palm One isn't and never has been a restaurant. It's 'The Palm.' I know because I walk by it every day.
Michael Jordan's is surprisingly good - and being in Grand Central Terminal, overlooking the main room, is a spectacular setting.
