Default How to get from LGA to 68th Street

Hi, delurking here. My son is flying up to Manhattan next week, his plane gets in around 11 pm. He is on his own to get to his friends place on 68th street. What is the best way to get there. (step by step) and about how much should he allow for fares etc? He is 22. I am strongly encouraging him to just take a carryon, being he will have a washer and dryer at the apt he is staying at.

TIA

What is the cross-street on 68th? Or if you don't know the specific street, do you know if it is on the east or west side of Manhattan?

Okay. There's a local bus - M60 - that will bring him tp 106/Broadway and he can then take another bus or subway to 68 Street, if the apartment is on the West Side, or a crosstown bus to the East Side, if it's not. That's the cheapest way.

Other than that, there are private airport bus services into Grand Central where he can once again take a bus and/or subway to his destination on 68 Street.

Of course, a yellow cab is the fastest, less logistics involved - but woud cost more, about 30 bucks, give and take. The other options range from $2.00 to about $20.00.

From LaGuardia to the area of East 68th St. the taxi fare will be about $22 plus tolls. To get to West 68th the cab will be about $10 more, plus tolls.

Central Park has east AND west sides...you need to know whether it's EAST 68th Street or WEST 68th Street. It makes a big difference!
