how's everyone doing? I'm currently looking at purchasing a condo in meadowcreek.I'm living in queens with my husband and 1y old son. I have a few questions.
Is the area gated?
How is the security within the area?
Are there grocery stores within the area and how far from the complex? Reason I'm asking is because it leads to younger teens/adults hanging out in front of the store?
How is the travel without a car?
How are the buildings maintained?
Are there any rules or regulations ?
Are there any kid friendly accommodations near?
Thank you so much for helping out,I just need to know before we go to the seminar that there hosting. Pretty much I need to know the knitty gritty before I go in.

I know that in the late 80s and 90s when it was Fairfield Towers it was not very safe.If I were interested in living in that general area I would move to Starrett City since you are going to pay market rate most likely at either place. There are also some condos on Louisiana Avenue adjacent to Starrett that have won a greenest block in NYC award.Don't forget if you need to work in the city it is about as far out as you can get in Brooklyn.

Muybonita,
You are asking the right person because I visited the property multiple times before deciding to purchase. The seminars are great and they will answer alot of your questions but since I am here during the day and night I can as well.
The property is not gated but it fenced in all around so that cars and people walking cant cut through.
I mentioned on my previous post that there are security cameras everywhere, both outside and in the lobby hallways also there are guards on duty at night along with 2 armed guards that walk around. There is a Pathmark about a mile away so no kids hanging out. I usually go to the BJs in the Gateway mall.
The bus stop is right on the corner of the property and the train at the Rockaway station is not too far.
Buildings are maintained by handymen and porters hired by my condo management.
Not sure what you mean about rules and regulations. It is a highrise so you naturally want to try and respect your neighbors with noise but the buildings are well built.
I do not have kids but there are 2 playgrounds on the property.
Good luck at the seminar. Hope we become neighbors

Harlem was bad in the 80s and 90s too, now look at it. Starrett City has it's advantages but I feel MeadowWood is more of a tight knit community in its own place. The landscaping is well maintained here as well. As in anything you buy, especially a home, i urge everyone to check out both.

Sorry for taking a long time to respond!!.. Thanks for the replys. My Seminar is today at 2pm. I wish I had time to see your post earlier. That way I could ask more questions.
Thanks for your answers. I wasn't aware that there were armed guards on the premises. I'll have my book of questions and ready to go tomorrow. Wish me luck and hopefully we do become neighbors!!!

Anytime you can find condos in NYC at affordable prices, GRAB IT!!!!!!
Meadowood's story sounds a bit like that of Parkchester!

I purchased a condo at Meadowwood in July after considering it for 2 years. I was originally raised in ENY so I am completely aware of the changes Brooklyn and ENY are going through. Some areas are being gentrified faster than others, this part of ENY being one of them. The complex is very quiet, close enough to shopping Pioneer & Pathmark, along with BJs in Gateway. Transportation is decent as buses run frequently which will connect you to the train. For someone who does not want to buy a house and the ease of knowing your property is being maintained, this a great start. I recommend it for young professionals and new families.

I moved into MeadowWood in July and have had both positive and negative things to say about it.
On the good side, the buildings are very quiet. Not much drama or problems in the 5months I've been here. Even tho the projects are right across the street from me (on Cozine Ave) there hasn't been any problems from there either.
Laundry rooms are usually empty so waiting for a machine is never an issue.
The management office are all very nice and usually help out whenever I have an issue.
The best part of moving to this complex tho is the price. There are NO other places in Brooklyn for the prices in MeadowWood. My mortgage is cheaper than my rent was before I moved here.
My complaints with MeadowWood are as follows.
Parking! I have a parking spot in one of the lots. There are either maintenance workers blocking my row of cars, or just residents guests. Either way, it gets annoying when you have to call security or management to track down whoevers car it is just to get into my own spot.
Another major issue I have is the quality of the condos. They look very nice and seem like decent quality...but they are really not. Everything seems to be wearing out an falling apart after only 6months .
My final issue is with birds. lol. I dont know why they flock here but my terrace is always covered in pigeon waste. They lay their eggs on the roof and then make there way down the building. Theres always hatched egg shells and feathers on our balconies. We complain about this but nothig has changed as of yet.
I know it seems like I have more negative things to say than positive, but that just looks deceiving. It is a great place to live if you're not in the market for a house yet and looking to start out and get established.
