Not even close. South Jamaica might be one of the worst neighborhoods in Queens, but Far Rockaway, Brownsville, East New York, and the South Bronx are even worse.

I thought South Bronx had cleaned up some.
Like others have mentioned, parts of Jamaica are cool, some aren't. Had family who lived off Rockaway Blvd near Sutphin Blvd. and um...yeah. S. Jam isn't sweet at all, but like someone else mentioned there are hard working folks who still maintain their homes there.

LMAO! You guys have to got to be kidding me. I bet everyone who had something negative to say don't live here.
I lived here all my life and Jamaica is way too big to say "yes" it's bad. Jamaica has some run down areas and they also have some very rich areas.
The worst part is South Jamaica/Guy R Brewer Blvd and some parts of Rockaway Blvd as some have mentioned.
If you tell me what zip codes you are looking into I can tell you ye or ne.

Far Rockaway is in Queens.
Maybe you are sorta putting it aside since it somewhat remote from the rest of the city, but it is officially part of Queens.

"Jamaica Estates" is part of Jamaica and it's very nice --- you have to be specific in what part of Jamaica you're referring to.
