Recommendation of a Reputable Jeweler for an Engagement Ring
I am looking for a reputable jeweler in NY where I can buy an engagement ring. Any experiences you would like to share in-store or even online with the jeweler would be gladly appreciated.

My husband bought my engagment ring right near Radio City Music Hall, there are several "Diamond Centers" all near there, several jewelers in one store, plus you can get your purchase certified by gemologist nearby. I know there are other sections of Manhattan where you can buy, but we had great luck there, back in 1970 paid $300.00 for a set, today that same set is about $3,000. White gold/one caret. I bought two gold bands for us to wear everyday and I paid under $100.00 for both.
Good luck............

Rather than post jewelers here, please send responses to the OP by DM, unless, of course, it's like the post above, recommending the diamond district on West 47th Street.

OP, can you give some info about what your looking for? How many carats are you shopping for? What is your budget? Do you want to buy a complete ring, or a loose diamond and a setting seperately? I bought one about a year a half ago and did a lot of research and shopping around.
I wound up buying the center stone seperately in the diamond district and then getting a setting custom made in a small mom-n-pop jeweler in Chinatown. The place in chinatown was recommended for their prices and quality of work and was worth it.
Send me a direct message if your interested and I can give the info of the 2 places I went. Honestly, the guy I got the diamond from was not the cheapest, but he was recommended by 2 friends and he was friendly and spend plenty of time to explain everything to me and show me what I needed to look for.

No offense is taken, I'm new to this forum, but with most forum sites - they don't allow spamming or promotions - so if multiple people start making recommendations in the forums, it would be against their rules. DM if you want more info or have questions.

The Diamond District is good if you know what you are doing. I think they are a bunch of vultures there, ready to pounce on an uneducated, eager customer. It is a place for people who like to haggle. If you don't like to haggle, I'd avoid this area. (If you can get a good recommendation, well, that's another story.)

Before shopping, if you are not yet educated on diamonds, read up. Get the pamphlet from Tiffany's. It is free. They tell you about grading, (clarity, etc.) ...Order it online.
Edited to add: I can't find the link online but if you go to 'engagement', you can read some. Their store should have it.
