Question on Beekman Area (in Midtown East, I believe)
Hello everybody, I was wondering if anybody could give me a suggestion for a particular apartment. I am going to be a summer associate at a law firm in NYC this summer and will be there for 6 weeks in May - June. Somebody has suggested the following apartments as nice and clean but not too expensive and I wanted to get some people's office on the area who are more familiar with NYC.
The website is Beekman Apartments - Your online source for a short-term furnished apartment in New York City (NYC) .
I'll be getting a studio or one bedroom and have been quoted a rate of $3200 a month.
Just trying to get some people's opinions on the general area, proximity to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Is it within walking distance to Central Park and what not.
Thanks for the help.

Beekman is a nice area, but it's very residential and quiet. You will have to head west to 1st and 2nd Avenues for coffee shops and the like, but it's not a far walk at all. Central Park is a little over a mile away to the southeast corner at 5th & 59th. You are east of the subway, however, since the Lexington Avenue line is about 1/2 mile away at 51st Street.

Personally, I love Beekman Place, partly because it's isolated, but it's one of the most expensive areas in town, and I'm surprised that someone would consider $3,200 inexpensive for a studio. Does the law firm provide suggestions?

LOVE Beekman Place. Irving Berlin had a townhouse there - it's now the Embassy of Luxembourg. Very quiet and dignified, beautiful homes. Near to shops (on First and Second Avenues).

The Beekman Place area is lovely and safe, and like others have said it is no more than a couple of blocks from shopping/dining/transportation.
