Agreed. I have a hard time believing New York City will ever again approach the levels that it did in the 80s and early 90s. The crime fighting measures that were implemented during Giuliani will never go away, and with the improvement of technology, I think that they will only improve. Also, I think the living situations of many low-income neighborhoods have vastly improved since the 70s, and I think residents are more vigilant and take more pride in their neighborhoods. Studies have shown that a poor economy doesn't lead to more crime.
As for job losses, well, New York is the biggest city, so it would make sense that it would lose the most number of jobs.
