I think most people understand why people riot (atleast I do), but I don't agree with rioting.

I think this was the case too. Remember how that elderly woman died in the hospital and the security officers did not do a damn thing. Or when the young man got stomped to death in Walmart and there was little to no remorse from the crowd. There were reports that people just continued on shopping like nothing happened, even impeding the police and medics from helping the young man.

Maybe it a Northeastern phenomenon because a similar incident happened in Connecticut where an elderly man got hit by a car and not one pedestrian or driver did a damn thing to help the man. They just could care less.

Maybe NY'ers are not as quick to riot as in LA because we have a lot more cops here and we know they WILL do something, unlike say what the LA cops did during the Rodney King riots which was ignore them and let them destroy their own neighborhoods. The only reason the cops didn't do much during the Crown Heights riot was because then-mayor Dinkins would not let them. Dinkins is long gone and so are his policies and the people of NYC are not fools. I remember when Guiliani was mayor and a sports team was going to win a championship and he actually got on TV and said to the City, "Go home after the game! If you hang out on the streets or celebrate by rioting, you will be arrested." Guess what? The team won. Everybody went home afterwards. No celebration riots. Another thing to think about is, if you are rioting in protest of the cops being vindicated for shooting an unarmed man, what do you think the cops will feel free to do to YOU when they are sent out to stop the riots? NY'ers are not cowards like some people on here are saying. We are just not fools!

NTC does have around 35,000 police officers. LA only has around 10,000 I think. So, NYC does trump LA when it comes to police manpower. Also, why would someone want to riot? What will that prove? If anything, it just proves the stereotype, that blacks and latinos are violent savages, who will destroy other people's property at a drop of a hat. Peaceful protest is the way to go.

Good point. Some people on the forum seem to support riots.

You can't have riots unless the people are socially conscious of their oppression. Blacks are not conscious anymore, as they were in the 60's.
