But I have heard NYC clubs are a bit more wild. Never been to one there.

It can be degrading to women, I suppose. But the same women complain could possibly be the same women that stay in Mod cut; langaugerelationships....and that's not degrading huh?

I guess I know all the sketchy strippers then. I can only imagine if the prostituting bit was happening back in my smaller hometown that it's even more intense here. I've seen/heard some things.

It's well known that in a lot of the strip clubs in the city, if you pay enough, in the VIP area you can have sex. Now that I think about it, pretty much every strip club I've been to anywhere has been like that.
I can only imagine how some of the grimier places are. You probably don't have to pay that much for it.

Penthouse Executive Club, very highend, classy and expensive. It's the place for high-rollers, and men with a lot of money to burn- lawyers, doctors, business executives.
It's in NYC near Hells Kitchen. Penthouse Executive Club - NYC

The bad name commences with the first garment taken off.

Are you kidding? One is on TV doing soft/hard core, and the other is in a club- starting with a strip tease and then depending on the size of the wallet, taking it further. It all depends on the girl, and how much is being offered. Money buys almost anything, not just lapdances.
The highend clubs in NYC have "Private rooms" for a reason ... If you didn't see it, it didn't happen. There's a girl at the Penthouse Executive Club who told me she made $4,000.00 in ONE night and that wasn't all in lapdances- She's a hustler and does what she has to do to make her rent, plus some all in one night.

She thinks NYC will be better, but I am curious if anyone here is going to the clubs and spending money. Or if your girls, or friends are dancers and if they are making money?
We will be staying with her Aunt in the Bronx til we get a place, so rent is not too much of a problem to start, but I may not find a job for a while as my field is rather quiet.

As mentioned before, I am not favorably disposed to your "girl's" occupational interests but I'll try to answer your inquiries anyway.
First of all, the sex industry is experiencing a downward spiral right now. Even tonight I heard on the news that Playboy Enterprises is cutting back on its staff and operations owing to a slump in business.
These are tough times across the board - for both decent and x-rated occupations. Your girl's prospects here in NYC and in fact across the country may be quite slim. People are cutting back on both essential and non-essential spending. They're brown-bagging lunch, cutting back on after school for their kids, dining in instead of out, and trimming their entertainment budgets.
Now, even men who would dump their wives and girfriends to visit a stripper are finding it cheaper and more enticing to stay at home and reinvigorate their bedroom activities. Along the way they are re-discovering each other and hence not turning any longer to strangers for their sexcitement.
I suggest that your girl try out a new profession. Maybe she can transfer her skills to a new occupation - as outplacement firms usually recommend.
Can she be a professional athlete as a pole vaulter?

I must say I did get a laugh out of a lot of posts. To clear some things up, I am a designer at an Architecture Firm and am currently taking care of her because she has not been doing well for the past few months. She even got a job at Abercrombie to supplement some income.
I have all the capital to move us to NYand sustain for a while, but I may have a harder time finding a job in my industry than she, which is why I was curious if she could jump in and make decent money. And yes, I also was asking if anyone here had friends or family in the business for better insight.
Also, porn is not an option. She had a scholarship to Boston University where she was 2 years into biology/pre-med when we moved to LA. She has brains as well. Stripping was just something I mentioned as a joke, but because we were in a bad spot when we came to LA, she tried it and made good money. So, it is temporary to get us by for now.
Oh, and exotic dancing being demeaning is only an opinion you should form if you are to do it. It is perfectly honest work for honest pay. You may also think artifically inseminating a cow is demeaning because Moderator cut: of the process, but it has to get done some way. Maybe you should be less judgemental and realize not everyone has the same opportunities, be it good or bad, just different.
