Default Parking violation question

I have not received any ticket or anything, just curious for the future. Often I forego the convenience of parking my car in front of my building the nite before street cleaning regs kick in nextAM for fear that if my car doesn't start and I can't move the car in time i will be towed

in reality if that ever happened, would they tow or just ticket?

I'm in central Riverdale, Bx on Broadway and 252 street, a quiet area

Usually it's a parking ticket, unless the posted signs say otherwise. Check the signs first. Last time I got a parking ticket in Queens (2004) it was $165.

Usually they ticket and can put an obnoxious orange sticker on the window. It has not happened to me, but I have witnessed it. However, if the vehicle is disabled, that's not parked, so put on the flashers and stay with it until a tow truck arrives. The worst they can do is call in a tow for a disabled vehicle, I believe, since if it is not able to move and you are with it, it would not be considered parked.
