Default My Rant...Any suggestions?

DH and I currently live in Texas where he is employed as a correction officer. Want a change my mother was murdered a year ago here and need a change. We would like to move there and are aware of the upcoming civil service exam however, called today and before you can take it you have to establish residency but they "encourage out of state applicants" now given the 40x rule how is anyone supposed to make it in this economy?? And then if we do what if he shouldnt get the job?

Darny,
I read on here somewhere (maybe in that terribly long thread at the top about moving to NYC) that you can rent a mailbox in the city and use it as your address. Apparently, MailBoxes Etc. and some similar places actually give you a physical address that you can put on your application. Then, if you don't get the job, you just have a PO box to get rid of (not an entire apartment).

your husband should look into being a C.O. in NYC. Given that he has the background already, it may be a good look.
