It's a crime against humanity because of the demolition of penn station. you used to come into the city like a god and you come in as a rat in a tunnel.
There have been on again and off again plans to move Penn Station into the post office across Eighth Avenue, and various plans of building a new MSG west of the post office or rebuilding it in its current location. This has been going on for at least a dozen years.
Is there something particularly wrong with Madison Square Garden that it needs to be rebuilt again? The city probably could spend money on more worthwhile things, although all the Knicks have to do is make noise about moving to the suburbs, and the city would commit half its' 2009 budget to a new arena!

Well, it worked for baseball... So, I agree -- it would not be surprising to find that the city would commit enormous sums to the project with supposed tax benefits and let other services fall by the wayside.
I'd say the city has much more pressing issues on its hands than throwing money at that. How about doing something with the crooks at city transit.
When you get to your next stop, consider the fact that MTA is a state agency. New York City does not control what goes on there. Everything emanates from the Governor's office.

eh. I just want penn station rebuilt. I don't really care for msg. I just thought maybe if they moved msg to the westside, everyone would get what they want.
MSG is fine where it is in my opinion. It will undergo some rennovation but I think the owners of the place will pay for it.
Now why would they do that when they can hold the city hostage to underwrite the costs as baseball did? LOL...did they learn nothing about how to do it?

I'm sure they will, I'm just saying what I read or heard, not saying I believe it though.
