Oh yeah!,
I love my Sex in the City lifestlyle, and my Friends in the City Apartment.
With $1600 a month, per 700 square foot space, I love that the floors are hardwood.
Also I love that the upstairs neighbors have hardwood too, with less than 2 feet of insulation in between.
I love that for this price per capita, I'm expected to expect the same per 1960's construction anywhere else in this price range.
I'm also happy that the building has an ongoing Pest Control problem, requiring regular Exterminator Visits.
Oh, and most of all, I'm especially happy for the next door neighbors slamming doors, Every ___ing day when they come home from work, disgruntled, probably at the fact that they're still renting like me, versus gaining equity.
I'm also glad that they never greet (E.Coast attidude y'all) even when I smile and say Hello, making this an even more comfier place to stay.
It's also wonderful that Management could give less than a ____ about overhead noise problems and quality control.
It's even more wonderful that you can't even spare some time with your significant other, without hearing repurcussive noises from overhead, or even fart loudly in your bathroom, without the same from such disgruntled (@ life probably) neighbors.
Yes, I love New York, but not this living situation. Maybe a 12,000/month Condo would make it likeable.
In the meantime, for the same $1600/month, I'm securing a Luxury condo, in a hopefully better city.

I have to say, I've been in NY for almost 10 years and I don't like it AT ALL!!! Like all young college people I came to the big apple for school, graduated, met the guy of my life, got married, had kids and got stuck here! It is a beautiful city when you are single, you have it all for a very expensive price though just like in any other big city. Now that I have kids I have to say, this is not where I want to raise them. You can't even afford a decent house here, the school system sucks!!! only in NY they give kids a list with supplies to take to school, including toilet paper!!!! that is not my idea of good education. We live in a very decent area in queens and crime wise is not that bad. We are hoping to move by this summer to AZ, I rather live hot than cold. I speak from my experiences and goals, true new yorkers might disagree with me like my husband. Once you go out and experience the style of living somewhere else you would know what I'm talking about.

New York the friendly
I used to live in the city including Queens and Brooklyn. Meeting people was easier.
I have been travelling and exploring other cities and states. There is some very beautiful parks and scenery out west. If
you don't own a car your really limited.
People assess you by what you own and drive. It is very materialistic out there. In NYC people are more interested in culture and self improvement. If you like sports NYC has it all except football is limited. New Yorkers rude? I have experienced some real rude behavior outside the city. People don't socialize like they used to in small town America.

Not only do I love New York City above and beyond anyplace else, but I'm possibly excessively proud of the fact that I was born here. (The only thing I truly regret is that I never got to share my father's experience as a Dodger fan; they went into exile when I was just a baby).

I love New York, through the good times and bad. As the saying goes, if you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere..
