Indecisive (Maryland: to live in, transport, budget)

I'm an original NY'er and I most out to Maryland last summer. However MD isn't for me at all. Especially the County I live in. I was considering relocating with in the state, but doesn't seem like it's working out with my areas of interest, as far as looking for employment, public transportaion and decent area to live in. Now I'm at a point where I'm exploring the option of movinback to NY. The question is where ?
