i dont see how that relates to anything. the crime level of a neighborhood relates more to a socioeconomic level than a racial one. simple as that. your comments are saying something to the effect of "that's a hispanic neighborhood so it has to be worse than a white one." i can't condone that way of thinking.

Guys, please with all your 'theories' on that racial stuff, I honestly don't care. I really don't, and it ain't going to change the way I think, or the way the ghettos are. Save your fingers from the typing.

But you actually gave some 'real life' experiences, and they didn't sound too good or safe.
this is really what you were looking to hear because i suspect that this is what u thought of harlem anyway....bottom line is harlem has good and bad areas like anywhere else.

SuperWario....your opinions never cease to amaze me. I find it interesting (for lack of a better word..more like suspicious) that we both live in similar areas of the Bronx, yet ALL of your experiences are always extremely negative, and my experiences are rarely negative, and NEVER as extreme as yours. Why is that? Could it be that you place yourself in situations and circumstances and then complain about them on the boards? I just don't get it, then again, I don't hang out with the homies at 4am on the stoops, or in the projects, but if I did...why would I then come on these boards and complain about them, what they do, and how they mess up the neighborhood? Seems more than hypocritical.

well actually the only person who had a racial theory on the topic was you. nobody else thinks that how bad a neighborhood is has to do with race. you're the only one that does. majority rules.

Hey, don't knock his post now, it was very good and detailed!

The rats carrying the pizza box line almost made me mod cut: language my pants! That was CLASSIC! This thread was worth it just for that line. I actually pictured it in my mind, and that made me laugh even harder.

Good stuff Mario! Thank you again.......

I love SuperMario's stories as well. I notice that W 138th - W 125th was not so bad in his story. I guess that is because it is mostly Dominican on that strip. So he is probably more comfortable. As soon as he turns on W125th and its more Black and Puerto Rican he is uncomfortable.

Granted it is late at night and the garbage from the restaurants is now out on the street, and there are rats, and vagrants out. If I am out late at night downtown, I see the same thing. The difference is that being a woman I will probably not be alone walking that late at night.

The thing about it is, at a reasonable hour of the day or evening, I could walk uptown Washington Heights, Harlem, all the way down town, which I do sometimes and I am never uncomfortable with any group of people. I guess it is my winning smile.

Notice I was speaking on 2 incidents when I was in HARLEM. I don't see how the Bronx has anything to do with it. I had some guys here saying "De 3", they were DDP and probably tought I was something else. They wanted to fight but I wasn't with that. That's really the only incident that's happen to me here recently. Things for the most part are quiet. And as for why things always happen to me and not you? Well, I do go out later at night. And I am more of a target because im younger. Also I live in a buildings, sorrounded by a few private homes, but mostly buildings so there are more "knuckleheads" around me I guess. Though I dont know how close to the pj's you live.

Anyways this is irrelavent to the thread. Speak on Harlem.

Don't lie, the "pizza box" line made you laugh too!

You don't have to explain yourself Mario, they obviously have some other type of 'agenda' here. Your post was good, and I enjoyed it. They ain't drawing me into some stupid debate like they are trying to do. I know what I know, and that's that. I asked about Harlem, you answered my question. And now I know.
