I always thought that CUNY is open only to city residents. No??
After all, the CUNY is supported by city and state taxes. Can out of city and/or out of state people apply? Is the tuition different?

After one year you will be a NYS resident and you can get NYS tuition rates.

A very subjective article. Not surprising given the track records of both the author and publication.

City College is part of CUNY and its senior colleges. Since the year 2000, the senior colleges, CCNY, Hunter, Baruch, Queens, Lehman and Brooklyn, have all increased their admissions standards significantly. You must have at least a B average and a high SAT score. (I would give you a figure but they have since changed the scoring system.)

The Honors program is for the top 10% of students from New York City and NYS. They have an excellent program and were given full scholarships, specialty classes etc. In recent years, they have renovated and improved the CCNY campus greatly, including the library.

All of this was done without sacrificing the diversity of the student population and without increasing the tuition too much. Which I think is wonderful. It is a great option for city residents and for students who want to attend school in NYC without breaking the bank.

What exactly is the honors program? Is it a curriculum only open to honor students? Are the classes attended only by honors students? What is the required SAT and high school average?
