We´re a Danish family who moved here just recently, my husbond´s travelling on L1 visa and my son and I on non-immigrant L2 visas.
I went to the social security´s office in Jamaica and they told us I should apply for an I-765 form (work authorization) and for my son apply for an I-766 form.
They did not inform us, though, for which reasons my son would need employment authorization, only that we need to apply for it in order for him to get a social security number.
My question is, can we make a private health insurance for my son instead without having a social security number?
And what is the social security number for for my son, since we´re not applying or eligible for any benefits, as far as I know of.
Since the apllication fees are quite high at the department of homeland security for each form (around 340 US dollars a piece) I´d greatly appreciate if anyone could fill me in on this matter, maybe being able to save the bucks for the apllication for my son (?)
