The New York Times is my favorite newspaper in the whole world! Their arts section is fabulous. Museums, architecture, artists, exhibitions- they have it all covered, and exceptionally well done.
I'm not a fan of tabloids and I want real information, so I don't read The New York Post or Daily News. But their headlines are fantastic. They got the classic "Ford to City" in 1975, and they keep on bringing new gems of witty sharp wording such as "Teach in butt-pinch bust".
You gotta love that.

On a day to day basis, NYTimes wears on you, it is just too big, who has that much time?
I like the daily news during the week. The daily news and the post are both a bit on the sleazy side, but the post is sleazier IMHO.
The Sunday NYTimes is fabulous though.

I used to like the New alot more but in their competition with the Post, they have sunk to new lows. Although I like the photos.

I prefer the New York Post, just because it's an easier read and like Manhattan-ite said, the headlines are amusing. The Times just seems more... distant... if that makes sense. Perhaps most importantly, it's easier to read the Post on the subway during my morning commute due to the way it folds.

NEW YORK POST!
Well, only because my fiance works there while he's finishing up college and they pay hella good lol. So, I'm biased.

There is that.
But, Newsday, which has the same advantage, does not give me enough to read. I'm finished with it before the bus ride's over.

I HATE the Post. Error prone, sleezy, and shoves it's neo-rightwing views down your neck. I'm more of a Daily News guy. To me it's more in the middle on political views, great headlines, great sports coverage (Love Lupica) and not bad for 50 cents. The NYT is good for exclusive articles. Love it's political stories and the Sunday Times is awesome.

I would read the Daily News if it weren't for Lupica. Yuck :P

When Lupica does his "political" articles, I tend to back away from that.
