This must be some other group. Not the Hebrew Israelites. SoBro is a native, I have to believe this is not the first time he's come across Hebrew Israelites.
Honestly I've grown so accustomed to blocking this type of stuff, I haven't even noticed them the times I've been around that part of Fordham.

I cannot tell you who they are....I assumed then were Islamic Militants based on their appearance/speech...but I know they are nutz. But everyone is missing the REAL point here: If it were reversed and this group were white "preaching" about blacks/people of color as devils/animals, using racial slurs every 3rd sentence, there would be a public uproar (and probably a violent reaction by the public to say the least), it would be branded on the news/media as a hate group, and the elected officials would be falling all over each other denouncing it. So why the double standard is my point?

Your right the double standard is wrong. But unfortunately there isn't much to be done (1st amendment) unless the community really gets together and indicates they don't want them there.

Agreed...I am just unhappy with the double standard and I see a big loss in credibility/compassion for people of color who are denigrated. It is apparently not okay when it is directed to people of color, but if its not them....they could care less..not their problem. And since there are no cameras around, our elected officials, and those like Sharpton who pride themselves on eradicating racism (supposedly) could care less. It makes those shouts of "racism" ring very hollow indeed.

I got your point and I tried to address it. I'll be more clear. You are bringing up something that honestly I don't think anyone in the Black community really thought about. I mean more specifically in that comparitive context.
These types, not just this group but others have been preaching on the corners for years since the 1930's. There was no one to really hear them but other Black people. Now others are hearing them, but the message is really for Black people because that is the group they are targeting for membership.
Most other Black groups are about civil rights, and non-violent protest. These groups are about the right to live and work where you choose, those sort of things.
The group that you are posting about would infringe on my right to do those things. They would try to stop me from living and working where I want to. Or even hanging out with who I want to hang out with. Most Black people are not with this type of thinking. So they have been dealing with these types of groups by ignoring them and just walking pass for the last 80 years.
I really don't think that most Black people care about small White groups that would want to do this type of thing either. Notice that this group does this in commercial areas frequented by Blacks. If this type of thing were done by a group, within a larger group that is not all White, then Black people have protested. Like when the police officers put on Afro wigs and Black faces in that parade, somewhere in the city. You can see the concern about something like that, I'm sure. Or another example is the KKK marching, because of their history, and that the fact that they were very large and powerful at one time.
Anyway you have brought up something to think about in a different way.

I think they've just been doing their crazy schtick for so long that people ignore them or just laugh. Back when they were in Times Square constantly, I would regularly see people get into screaming matches with them.

Well there is such a group- the Ku Klux Klan. Their rallies tend to be a bit more nocturnal though.

Yeah it was just something to think about....it would be nice if they received the rebuking by officials and the public that is appropriate. We know that ignoring things oftentimes makes things worse and they start to fester. I have seen them before, and the shouting matches in the city at times, but at the very least the police can fine them for noise violations!!! They are fining Mr. Softee for his music...but these racist rants on loud speakers are ok?

Nothings happened for the past 80 years between these groups and people outside the groups, other than shouting matches. Why would something happen now? Ignoring them has kept attention off of them and you notice that the group is still small. They are mostly young, and members come and go.
I know some young Christian Ministers like to walk up to them with their Bibles on 125th and challenge them to verbal Bible quizzes. That is fun to watch.
They don't fine them, or maybe they do, and we don't know about it, but if they don't, it is probably because they stay in commercial zones.
