I still feel anyone with 3000 and lower has a great chance cause with 2 years left on this list that is alot of time still to hit 3000. There wont be a class this year. I really doubt it. If there was gonna be one we would have to know about it now in August so it can be setup in november or early december. Hopefully next year.....

I have a quick question, lets say that they do freeze this current list for test 6063, when do you think they would come to that decision and how soon would they make that public? I could kick myself in the rear. The last test I had signed up to take the exam but they had just laid off San workers and I said to myself that it was a ploy for the city to make money, so I didn't take the test. My friend took the exam and he is about to make top pay, we would've probably got on the same time. I guess things happen for a reason and we all just have to be patient.

I wouldnt concern myself with when they would be freezing hiring. I cant see bloomberg doing that before he is re-elected. Also dont kick yourself about the last list. My cousin took it and I didnt for personal reasons and he is also about to hit top pay. All thing happen for a reason

Cutting cleaning is part of the game they are playing just so they dont have to give charts and since they arent giving charts there is no need of another class. From my sources they want to go at least 500 under head count. If that is the case they wont hire for at least 3 years until the class of 93 retires. For the guys on the job dont you notice how many trucks you lost when you lost rear end loaders for recycling. It is nice to see how many districts ate up the work and gave nothing back, keep up the hard work. Everything you get you all deserve.

My district gave back work every day when they took our rear loaders for splits, and we got back 2 splits a week, not everything we lost but we stuck together and got at least something back out of it.

its a bad time and 2010 is going to be worse....there not gonna hire be very careful that layoff talks dont come up out of the closet again.....there gonna try and plug this gap for 2010 2011 on city workers backs....bloomberg wants teir 5 (def dont see a class going in till that takes effect)...plus i think he still wants give backs on the health care front and other things....the only reason why things are quiet now is because its crunch time for him and he doesnt wanna stir the pot and lose votes but after watch out i bet things are going to rumble.....

It would be in the hands of DCAS regarding the possibility of a list freeze. One thing that stands out from the 6063 exam is the long filing period. Feb 07-March 27..7 weeks, most filing periods are 1 month or less usually. Also if they advertise the exam in the newspapers that brings in a lot more applicants.

I know, it could come any day really. As long as it before November.
Anyday it could "hey we got word that we have money for some san wrk. So get a class of a 100 ready." then everything starts going in motion.
The reason I said it takes time for a class because they need to get a list from DCAS on who to call to Pre-Orientation. Safety and Training needs to prepare to get ready to train new Sanitation workers and maybe a few CDL training classes if there is time. Medical needs to prepare to test hundreds of guys. Human Resources needs to prepare with all the paper work and sending out letters to potential sanitation workers
Now the chances of that word coming this year is low. But hey you never know. Even in the past when things were good economically classes would just come up randomly and suddenly.
