Well most districts ran up the routes like good little Mod cut: language. Too bad most districts arent like yours.

Not true. That district had split bodies for years and some of them dump on shift.

Guys 2010 won't be worse ... Since march the stock market has massively recovered.. From stim packages banks are doing better ... There attempting to change (but won't) bloom was basing NYC recovery based on the market and it's beating anaylsts by long shots ... Only issue is unemployment it's still rising but it's extremely slim if he's hiring other departments they have the money .. All a waiting game I'm calling 500 calls from info I read from epyon and others by also reading about when people retire etc and the fact of a bad winter on the way and if there where a call of 500..? What that would make us up to list number #2000.. for preorintation.?

I agree with you 100% the market is doing a hell of a lot better. But what scary to me is when Bloomy gets in in Nov he is going to do whatever he can to screw guys waiting to get on with tier 5.
And "most" senior guys don't give Mod cut: languageabout us or the joinor guys. Do you think if Bloomy comes to them in Nov after the election and says to them 4% raise or we are going to have to lay off. Those junior guys are as good as gone, and all that is going to do is prolong us from getting on.

I agree... All the cuts that are comeing now are to meet next years budget. When we actually enter 2010 they will be gearing up for 2011. As long as everything continues to recover we should be in good shape come 2010

The reason I said it takes time for a class because they need to get a list from DCAS on who to call to Pre-Orientation. Safety and Training needs to prepare to get ready to train new Sanitation workers and maybe a few CDL training classes if there is time. Medical needs to prepare to test hundreds of guys. Human Resources needs to prepare with all the paper work and sending out letters to potential sanitation workers
Now the chances of that word coming this year is low. But hey you never know. Even in the past when things were good economically classes would just come up randomly and suddenly.

DON'T be FOOLED yes the stock market is doing better.....but last year the city lost billions of dollars in 2009 pensions funds and in 2010 they are slated to lose more money...and the citys gap doesnt end this year it grows every year after this one...the fact that they are speculating in july/august that were gonna have a bad winter means nothing the weather man cant get the weather rite for tomorrow lol.....and all because they say its gonna snow doenst mean there gonna hire tons of guys for 2months....come night plow there will be no need for guys we will prb still be surplus and still have more then enough man power to fight a storm...(i feel like they wont hire for another year or two) they def. wanna go under headcount for awhile...you will know when they are desperate and need to hire when guys start making charts as of rite now its business as usual...so dont fill your head up with oo the stocks are doing good n some guys retired so theres gonna be a class...just go on doing your thing find the best job possible save some cash and when you get the phone call then be happy until then just forget about this job.....

if you're on the list and waiting to get on the job, listen to the guys on the forum that are already OTJ (and also Epyon) and keep up with all the links from reputable sources that are posted here...pretty much anything else is false hope...EVERY junior guy would love to see multiple classes as soon as possible, but for as bad as this year has been, Fiscal Year 2011 (which starts July 1st, 2010) is projected to be even worse ($5 billion budget deficit, not to mention Bloomberg's re-election in Nov., Bloomberg's push for Tier 5, rumors that the city wants to go at least 500 under headcount, possible layoffs, etc.)...hang in there (I waited 4 years from the day I took the test to the day I was hired) and stay informed, but don't obsess over this job right now
As $5 billion budget deficit looms, Mayor Bloomberg will have to yell, Cut![/color]
MAYOR BLOOMBERG AND BILL THOMPSON AGREE THAT $5B BUDGET GAP WILL BE HARD TO CLOSE - New York Post

I really think ... It's simply a waiting game there hiring in departments now and new York did get a package.... And like a old recored if the city hasent made more then half it's money back in market then there idiots... They have the money simply cutting back if it's that bad cop and fireman classes would be out of the question ...
