Just a little sheet with what you earned this year , your current balance, and change in value. If you get layed off I believe you can withdraw you rannuity , and whatever you put into your pension. Not sure about 457 plan though.

Hey, Turkey Tuesdays. What do you think about promotions. Is it a lost cause due to the economic state? Or do we have a shot? My list number is in the low to mid 200's. Do you think the city will promote SamMen or will the list expire or be frozen?.........Thanks for the feedback

I would look to the fall maybe right before night plow. Unfortunately this list will be lucky to make it to 350.

^^^^ FULLTRUCK made this post about a week ago...

There was a theory gaining traction that Tier 5 would circumvent the current state laws and prevent anyone currently under Tier 4 from being rehired under Tier 4. In other words, if you were laid off they would try and bring you back as a "new hire".
However the defeat of Tier 5 might be the birth of layoffs, cuts on Sundays, cuts of garbage routes. Prepare.

FULLTRUCK or anyone else, any updates on this? if the city does lose this Tier 5 battle, are they still using the possibility of layoffs/cuts on Sundays/cuts on garbage routes as a negotiating tactic?
I think GRAPES24 posted that he heard no layoffs from a foreman, which was good news (finally), but it's almost the exact opposite of what's been posted by san workers here that are in the know and that deal with the Union...also in my time OTJ, I've learned that supervisors aren't exactly the most reliable sources of info, at least in my district

saw this today on NY1:
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said today that 7,000 more jobs could be eliminated citywide next year. Bloomberg's Budget Director Mark Page sent a letter today to city agencies announcing plans to cut an extra $350 million from next year's budget, on top of the $3.1 billion he has already ordered, due to the deteriorating economic situation.
This means that city agencies, including the Administration for Children's Services, the Department of Health and the Buildings Department each face an additional four-percent reduction.
Meanwhile, other agencies like the New York City Police Department and the New York City Fire Department only face additional cuts of .5 percent.
The budget director said layoffs are likely because there is little else left to cut.
In his letter, Page noted that the mayor has asked city employees to begin paying 10 percent of their health care premiums – but municipal unions have not signed off on that plan.
The heads of all agencies have until Monday at noon to decide which jobs will be eliminated.
All of the cuts will go into effect on July 1st, the start of the city's fiscal year.

thanks Kuai for that info...I wonder what kind of internal discussions are going on within the Union right now in the face of this news...this is probably the most direct threat yet...
