From what i know if you make less than $50,000 a yr they will give u a $2,500 voucher which you can use at driving schools. You have to have a resume, SS card, driver license etc...i think the whole process of them giving you the voucher takes a month or too. I think you have to go three times and do some workshops of how to get a job, blah blah blah but its worth it if your license is free, mine was 900
If your interested check the link for your borough and call them to find out on getting started, tell them you want the cdl voucher

I had a question i wanted too ask and was curious say they start calling and say they look for a class of ..hmmm... i dont know just for arguments sake lets say sir bloomberg is looking for 500 new sanman ....(scenario) so they would probley do preorientation for up to list numbers 800-1500 say i have my cdl license and i have a number of 1300 yet the guy who has a list number in the 800 does not... would i get first dibs because i have the cdl prior and can get interviewed before that person with a 800 number or do i have too wait. This was always a question on my mind and it seems whenever i throw a scenario out there you guys are great and reply with a well informed answer....thanks....

From what I understand if that guy with a lower list number then you doesn't have his CDL but you do he gets passed up and you would go through the pre employment process before him.
What I think is wrong is that he should not get another chance the next time they go through the list. With the exception of a medical hold which takes time everybody else would not get called again.

what happens if you're a new guy who doesn't know his way around at all? are you just expected to somehow find your way? can you get in trouble if you get lost and take too much time finding your way around?

I mean if you dident really want this job or like i have heard before from epyon say someone who lost there job and who took the test cause his buddy wanted company when traveling to go take the test with him would now maybe take the job....think about it...... if you really wanted this job wouldent you go and get it now to get in the door before them ...? I took this test to become one day a Sanman ....and thats why i went and got my cdl and this question now being answered makes me feel alot better....

That is right, some people want this job more then others. Some people just took the test as a backup in case they get laid off from their current job. I have everything that I need, CDL B with the proper endorsements, documents, etc but my list # is in the mid #5,000's, if they extend the list like they should I may have a chance in a few years.
