A chief--(one level above superintendant) told me this past dec that they will most likely be lay offs for fiscal year 2010 which begins in JULY of 2009
I heard that tier 5 is off the table for now.
So far layoffs are off the table for the next 6 months.
You're retro pay for the truck money may come maybe next week.
Let the union know if your due to have a baby so you can get that child in on the benefits. Apparently people havent been notifying them.
If your truck has air condition then they dont give you water.. Thats nutz... i thought it was the union giving the water... So what if the truck has a/c... It doesnt load itself....
We never in the 20 years I've been there have been given water.
The only reason they started giving water out was because the new DC series has a problem with the heat coming in the cab from the engine. They decided to give out water until they have all the Dc trucks fitted with AC units. The city is being charged $10,000 a truck from what I here. I don't know how true that is but I wouldn't be surprised seeing how the city gets ripped off all the time.
Bloomy loves the dept of sanitation. He will do what he can for us.
obviously being OTJ for 20 years you know more than I do, but Bloomberg was mayor the last time DSNY had layoffs, so I don't trust him at all...also Tier 5 for all the unions is a major issue for Bloomberg, look at how hard he's pushed for Tier 5 during an election year, I can only imagine what it will be like after he gets re-elected...same thing with the new contract in 2011
