I will be renting or subletting a place in Brooklyn for 4 months. If I can't find one furnished, I will probably want to rent a set of bedroom and living room furniture. All the furniture rental sites I've found so far boast about how high-end and luxurious they are. I don't want high-end and luxurious, I want simple and cheap. Does anyone know a budget-minded place for monthly furniture rental?
Thanks for any help.

It's more cost effective to purchase cheap furniture from craigslist, rather than renting for 4 months. People will even give you things for free if you are willing to pick it up. Also, goodwill has cheap furniture. Either of these is going to cost you less than renting. Plus, there's no liability for spills, tears, or other potential damage to the furniture.

Yeah, I am wrestling with the decision of whether to just use craigslist. The problem is I would have to rent a truck, coordinate the pick-ups of the stuff with the day I have a truck (and most people won't hold stuff), deal with the unknown quantity of whether the stuff is in the condition it's supposed to be in, etc., and move it all myself. That's why I wanted to see what's the cheapest I could possibly get by with for rental. It does seem like the answer is, not very cheap.

The reason why I'd rent is that you'd not have to think what the heck you are going to do with all this stuff in 4 months time when it is the time for you to leave...

For 4 months, what more do you need than a bed and a desk?
