took my physical, passed it with no problems alot easier then i thought. I asked a lady who works with DCAS if the hiring freeze will affect the DSNY she said no. So hopefully shes right about it. good luck to anyone going through the process.
The City hiring freeze shouldn't have any impact on Sanitation workers,as it would impact the health of the city. Sanitation is an essential service. Somebody told me that in 1986-89 they had a mass hiring so the senior guys are going to start to retire. I would be surprised if they hire more than 4,000 new sanitation workers from the list. I am #5,560,doesn't look good for me.
Hi i took the sanitation worker exam # 6063 in june 2007. my list number is # 27073 what are the chances of them calling me within the 4 years?
dude im sorry to burst your bumble but you have zero chance of getting hired. The last exam i believe about 6000 people were hired. Your going to have to wait 4yrs and retake the test.

Dude why do you keep selling yourself short????? based on your statement then you would be hired if alot of senior guys will be retiring soon. Look the last exam hired over 6000 people off that list. Im pretty sure you will get called off this list. Good Luck

Well I read that awhile ago,now there will be people who get passed up for whatever reason(background check,driving record,etc). I am not being negative,more like realistic. There are only about 7,899 sanitation workers including supervisors.
I believe that you are not forced to retire after 20 years,as a matter of fact there is one guy who is 78 yrs old,works out of Brooklyn south,he has been with DSNY for 37 years,of course he is an exception.
It is a waiting game,so like you said I have to be patient. I have to work on getting my CDL license.
i heard they were doing medical exams for 1-700ish..2nd hand so im not sure if its true.
6000 hires is a pretty big number..do you think thats the norm or a freak occurrence?that was a good year to take the test.

i looked at the score list and saw some crazy high marks ,what were all the extra credits?veteran and residency ...but what are the others?
