Yeah, he's been doing that for a few years. Thankfully, some of us know the truth.

There are areas in NYC with serious violent crime problems: Harlem and Washington Heights, a good chunk of Brooklyn and the Bronx, finally smaller areas in Queens, Staten Island and lower Manhattan public housing. That is undeniable.
I would like to say violent crime in general in these areas has been on the rise in the last few years for various reasons. Beyond the fact we are now in a recession, living cost in the city have only gone up. Struggle is on the rise, many children are on the streets, being raised by the streets. Other issues like overpopulation and horrid schools can be blamed and little is being done.
If crime is not up now, it soon will be in time. In the end though it will be the people in these communities effected the most. Not like much has changed. Went from terrible to not as terrible but still terrible for the people in these neighborhoods.

Look at the Gothamist newsmap. What happened in Harlem?
It says a triple shooting. a double shooting and a regular shooting all at different times last night.

Harlem is still among the highest crime places in NYC. Even gentrification cant stop it, go Harlem!
But really ...the "safest part" of Harlem, West Harlem, was as bad as the South Bronx in 2007.
It's perception really. People see all the new developments and gentrification in Harlem, others think Manhattan cant have any high crime areas...so it all leads to people thinking Harlem is safe. The truth is that shootings like that are common place in Harlem.

Just because things don't happen before your eyes, doesn't mean that they don't happen.
