njnyckid is on a distinguished road
There was another shooting in LES yesterday: Male-shot | Ave A & East 11 St Manhattan, NY | 8/29/2009 11:09 p.m.

It hasn't reached 9 o clock and it's already getting crazy: BK has a couple of shootings already and Bronx has a double shooting. Looks like no time is being wasted.

Yes, come to think of it; it adds people (esp people of more means) living cheeck to jowl with have-nots.

As for the Bronx cab shootings: I take those cabs a lot and they don't seem to have any partitions, which is puzzling and disturbing. Also they're only supposed to pick up people who call ahead, so picking up a fare can be very risky. Most of these guys are hard working immigrants. If their union is too cheap to add partitions, I don't know what to say.

You are assuming that the new people who've moved into the neighborhood aren't criminals. And sometimes the criminals are the only ones who can afford the high rent. I'm just saying.

You're right, I am assuming that, because the type of people who usually go for these kinds of developments are out-of-towner transplants... but you're absolutely right, those aren't the only tenants, and I'm sure some of them could be criminals, it just wasn't the first thought that comes to mind..

It usually isn't, but it should be.

Not everyone moving in to "gentrify" a neighborhood is good. And not everyone who has already lived in the neighborhood is bad, or poor or uneducated.

Not saying you think like this. I'm just tired of people having this belief and it being passed on to future transplants. It creates further tension between the old and new residents.

Moderator cut: Language they must've found another way to sweep the real stats under the rug, that's so fake how there's a big drop in everything especially when this year was more violent, these drops are fake in general.

I wish I worked for them so I could expose them then go back to being me lol.

I haven't read through all 600+ posts in this thread so I apologize if this has already been discussed...

I found the link to Metropolitan Police Service - Crime mapping for London and it appears that they have a much more detailed crime statistics website then NYC. I wish we had something like this.
