Default Commuting east to north New Hyde Park?

Hi everyone,

My wife will be working at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in north New Hyde Park (near Glen Oaks). We are considering living in one of the following places, and I wanted to get a sense of what her commute by car will be like from each. She will be traveling eastward to work around 8:00 am, and returning westward at 5:00 pm. In other words, it would be right in the middle of rush hour.

(1) Midtown East in Manhattan, near the Queens Midtown Tunnel. My wife would drive through the tunnel.

(2) Long Island City/Hunters Point near the Vernon Blvd-Jackson Ave subway station. My wife would get on the LIE from there. Does living on the other side of the tunnel shorten the commute considerably?

(3) Forest Hills near the 71st Ave-Forest Hills subway station. My wife could use either the LIE or GCP. Any opinions on which one would be better?

Note: I will be working in Manhattan, and my commute looks fine from any of those places.

Thank you for any advice!

Living in Manhattan would be quite a pain for her. Even though the rush hours are, by reputation, opposite to her direction of travel, the roads are frequently bad coming INTO the city at the end of the workday. I would suggest Forest Hills...
