Angry Join the battle to save NYC!

A city without a decent transit system will be a city in decay.
The State of NY continues to betray us. The MTA says they are getting 200 million less from the state than they expected, so more severe service cuts and fare hikes may be on the way. What's on the table? No buses after 11pm, no more C and 5 trains on weekends, and drastic reductions in service across the board, subways will run once an hour after 11pm and the LIRR and Metro-North will not run at all after 11pm. As for LIB, who knows what could be next, $5 fares, hourly service at all times and no service nights/sundays?
Are these idiots in Albany clueless or what? They're worried about the taxes and tolls of the Ravitch Plan, yet these cuts and fare hikes will be the death knell for NYC, and we'll plunge into the 1970s once again! Have these people learned anything?
It really is time to put the FEAR OF GOD into these people. We must defend the downstate area now!
PEOPLE WILL LEAVE NY IN DROVES, INCLUDING MYSELF!
Is that what you want Craig Johnson? David Paterson (who redistributed federal stimulus money away from the MTA)? Malcom Smith...do you want to see your city in the condition it was 33 years ago?
Albany...there is NO NEW YORK without NEW YORK CITY...GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK HEADED SKULLS OF YOURS AND DO SOMETHING!
People and businesses will leave this state, because they will no longer be able to get employees. STOP SUCKING SUV FUMES ALBANY AND WAKE UP OUT OF YOUR STUPER AND GET TO WORK.

AS FOR THE MTA BOARD WHO VOTED FOR THESE CUTS AND FARE HIKES, HOW ABOUT DOING RIGHT BY MILLIONS OF NY'ers AND STOP THIS.
The Captain of a Ship is supposed to put his crew first, and you have let your "crew" down. Mitch Palley, Dale Hemmerdinger, Elliot Sander you should have refused to balance the budget and sacrificed yourselves. A Captain recently lost his freedom for a while for doing just that, because he didn't want his crew being harmed. THE MTA BOARD HAS NO HONOR AND NO DIGNITY
This isn't just about fare hikes and service cuts, it's about saving our city and our planet. Please, TAKE ACTION NOW, BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! If you love NEW YORK please STAND UP AND FIGHT!
The video below pretty much sums up how I feel.

YouTube - I'm too mad to talk right now

I'm on board with this--and not just because I happen to be a transit worker. The worst thing that ever happened to New York City is Albany. And short of taking them all outside and shooting them--or seceding from New York State--the only thing that's ever going to get them to sit up and pay attention is the threat of turning them out of office. Beginning, I should say, with the Governor, who appoints the MTA Board and bears the final burden of responsibility.

Mayor Bloomberg, whose actual power concerning MTA affairs is quite limited, could still do some public lobbying in favor of transit in New York City. Why he doesn't is a mystery to me.

Between 1970 and 1980 NYC lost 15% of it's population! If that continued, by now it would be the size of Chicago! We got really lucky with the resurgance of the Wall St. industry in the 1980s (and some immigration) stopping this flow.......and this kind of loss can happen, just look at Detroit, Buffalo, Cleveland, St. Louis, etc. just imagine 300 sq. miles of abandoned buildings being common (actually, anyone who remembers what the South Bronx looked like circa 1980 or so will have seen it first hand!).

Soon New York will become a hyper-expensive and super-inconvenient place that only the super rich will be able to live in and enjoy! Stop the madness now!

By the way, Johninwestbury, on Thursday, April 23 there's going to be a mass protest outside MTA headquarters in Manhattan, sponsored by TWU but certainly open to all transit advocates. The theme will be opposition to service cuts. The more, the merrier!

What time does it start? When this first started happening, I had my doubts about it passing, but now this inaction by those scumbags in Albany has me really worried, especially now with a possible second doomsday.

People will not leave NYC because the jobs are here.
When I lived outside the city, there were a few nights when I "camped out" because Metro-North wasn't running between 0120 and 0600.
The MTA takes in a huge amount of money every day, how they're running a deficit is mind-boggling.

After noon. Be in the vicinity of MTA's midtown headquarters--you won't be able to miss the crowd.
