Wanted to get thoughts as to the "Photo Op" Flyover conducted this morning over lower Manhattan.

I work right down there -- like 50 feet from West Street -- and didn't know a thing about it until tonight. Guess that's the good part of my windowless cubicle. (?)

I saw a couple different videos that were online...on one of them you can hear the person who is taping it say "My God...this just isn't normal....I know it's a hijacking"...etc. I can't even imagine what some people felt who saw this today.

I just saw that as well, on the NY Times City Room blog. I guess I'm glad that I didn't see it, although I doubt it would have spooked me too much, since I wasn't around for 9/11 and tend to rationalize these things pretty well. I went out to the Hudson waterfront for lunch probably 90 minutes after the fact, too, and still had no idea, although thinking about it now, I did notice an abnormal number of Coast Guard and NYPD boats out there.

It's absolutely amazing how the people who were involved in this stunt didn't realize they would traumatize people. Even if they warned people ahead of time it would still disturb some of them. The fact is a lot of people who were there on 9/11 are still working in that area, and so it'll be many years before people can ignore low flying planes.

They're so lucky no one had a heart attack.
