I will be driving from Syracuse to NYC for a meeting in a few weeks. I would like to park my car in NJ and take the train into the city. I am staying near Ground Zero. Any advice on a park and ride station in NJ and what line I should take to downtown? Thanks in advance.

Since you're coming from the northwest, the Route 17 station in Ramsey is probably your best bet. It has a large, relatively inexpensive parking garage where a vehicle can safely be left for a few days. You'll have to change at Secaucus to get to New York Penn.

Otherwise, I'd recommend Metropark station in the Iselin section of Woodbridge. It's a shorter ride to Manhattan from there than Ramey and you don't have to change trains, but it's out of the way relative from where you're coming.

You certainly don't need to go to Ramsey and you certainly don't need to go all the way to Woodbrige. Woodbridge!??! Geez, why not catch the train in Red Bank?

But seriously, you don't even need to go to Jersey. You can catch NJ Transit in New York. There is a train in Suffern that I used to catch. There is also a NJ Transit stop off of Rt. 17 in Middleton, NY, next to a mall, so it would be free parking.

I believe there is cheap parking at Newark Penn station which you can take the Path in for 1.50. Or you can park at a parking lot in Hoboken right next to the path station. not sure how much it is, but probably less than NYC and you won't have to pay the toll or deal w/ the holland tunnel traffic. Also look into Harrison which is along the path> A few years ago there was a cheap lot right at the path staion, but I haven't been there in about 3 years

I agree with this the most of all the rest, IMO

Try Hoboken and take the path (rapid transit, like the subway), which is 1.75 the last time i took it, and has a station right at ground zero, whereas the NJ transit takes you into penn which is up in midtown
