First of all, I don't know anyone in Miami who goes to the beach more than a few times in a month. There are beautiful beach towns in the Hamptons. I rarely even like going to the beach, so I don't care.
And I can have a blast in New York, waking up, jogging alongside the beautiful trails along the WSH and Battery Park, going for lunch at top cafes, going to the gym, playing golf/training at Chelsea Piers, relaxing at my apartment, going shopping at the best stores, lounging at the best bars, going out to eat at a top restaurant then going to the absolute best nightspots.
And I would gladly spend "ridiculous amounts of money" (none of these activities are necessarily expensive, but nonetheless I can afford a nice lifestyle) but it's unfortunate that you've resorted to calling New York "boring" and "overrated" since you obviously lack the privilege or the means to enjoy the best city the country has to offer. Just because the good things are inaccessible to you, or are out of your way doesn't mean others can't enjoy it.
And did you just say you can't jog or ride bike in New York? Where the heck do you live? The hood? I wouldn't be surprised if you do. Well, here in Manhattan we have beautiful parks and areas to jog/bike. Central Park, Riverside Park, along the Westside Highway, etc. You've probably never even heard of these places.

Have you ever gone on a hike in NYC?

Yes. Daily.

Are you able to go surfing at these bacteria mudpools that they call beaches?
|
Who surfs? LOL. How many people in the country actually surf? 2%? And yes, I've surfed a few times in Sagaponack (in the Hamptons) and once every few months is enough for me.

Ok, so given, some beaches are not as bad as others...but you get my point. You can't really do any of those things...in order to enjoy it here..you need to spend money..

In whatever town you came from but refuse to say, can you go to one park and enjoy carriage rides, zoos, picknicks (i.e. Central Park), enjoy the best restaurants in the world, enjoy the best clubs in the world, enjoy the best shopping in the world, enjoy the best theaters in the world, enjoy the best galleries in the world, enjoy the best exhibits in the world, enjoy the best museums in the world?actually walk around and enjoy nice historic neighborhoods (nobody walks where you are from which is why everyone is obese). Nope.
Maybe we're just different people, but I would much rather partake in the finest the country has (shopping, bars, restaurants) to offer than lay around on a beach all day like a bum, reverse out of my cookie cutter suburban southern home, drive to McDonald's, wait at the drive-through with the other unwashed obese , proceed to Wal-Mart then go home and stay indoors for the rest of the day. Trust me, I've lived that Southern suburban lifestyle for a few years and I wanted to just die. Things happen in New York and if you're bored, you are simply a very boring person.

and please...don't say a walk @ Central Park is a free way to enjoy NYC..Have you seen how insanely crowded that place is?...and have you noticed that it smells like pee under every bridge they have? Yeah...so we have different ideas of enjoyable. Again..I do NOT hate NYC.
|
Central Park is not crowded on weekend evenings. Maybe when you take your bridge or tunnel into Manhattan on Saturdays afternoons it is overcrowded but when I go during the week it is hardly crowded.

Why would anyone with a pulse and a life want to live in Waikiki? We all might as well live in Guam. You know, we have these things called vacation which we use on our downtime or weekends to travel and relax (Saint Barts, Dalmatian Coast, French Riviera) but most of these places are third-world, lack basic amenities and are only used for vacation,
not to live. You obviously wouldn't know though.
Now please remind us again where you came from?
