New York is regarded by many as the best simply because there's more of it. Every city has a few, cool, walkable neighborhoods; we have dozens. It's a matter of scale. If you love cities, nothing else (domestically) can compare.

A silly poll...could it have been initiated by a real New Yorker? Because it all depends on who you ask. In my case, sue me; I'm a native of Brownsville, Brooklyn (although I haven't lived in that part of the borough for many years) who confesses to what might be an excess of hometown pride.

Ny is not the BEST U.S. City to Live in it's one of the MOST EXPENSIVE cities to live in. It's OVERPOPULATED, FILTHY and NO WORK!!!!!! COST OF LIVING is over the roof, rent is SKYHIGH and it's not the SAFEST place considering everything else going on so the BEST definitely not and this is coming from someone who was born and raised in NY and DYING to relocate

Lets get a little bit more focused / objective here...let me suggest some parameters for our discussion:
The parameters would be:
- Beauty
- Weather
- Safety
- Economy
- Cost of living
- Culture
- Sports
Now let have a discussion!

It's the lifestyle and excitement you pay for. No one needs a fancy house in New York because there's too much to do in the city. It's basically like being on a never ending vacation living here. When tourists visit New York they don't stay in the hotel all day, they're too excited to absorb the energy of the city - it's the same thing for New Yorkers, only we're on that high permanently. I lived in LA for half a year and was bored out of my mind after a few weeks. You can keep all your fancy cars, houses and traffic. Life experience is more important than material goods, and you can't get any richer variety of cultural and lifestyle experiences than living in New York.

As with all the things I value in life, I have a love-hate relationship with NY.

I love the change of the seasons, I love that it is so multi cultural .It has its good points and bad just like anyplace else. It is a very expensive place to live. For example milk in an upper class area is $4.00 a gal. and if you go to a lower class area it is $1.99 . So I guess it all depends on where you live or should I say how you live.
