Default Is N.Y. Really The Best U.S. City To Live In???

I hear both sides of the discussion...those that love NY and those that can not wait to get out! Is NY really any different than any other large city....LA or Boston...What makes NY the best city in the US in witch to live? Why would people want to move here? and what would keep them here?

It's New York. No explanation needed. The name alone should be enough.

Just like beauty, it's only an opinion.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This question is simple. To some yes and to others, no.

If you have the money, of course. No place better. But, if you're middle class, come on! For the price I see houses in Brooklyn and Queens selling for...wow. These people could sell their homes, buy a bigger house in PA, and pocket a few hundred thousand. We won't even discuss the difference in quality of schools and amount of taxes. But, as they say, you're not paying to live in a house, you're paying to live in NYC.

I've always wondered, what makes NY so special? Everybody I know whose been there either loves it or hates it, nobody ever said 'it's OK'.

Even though I can get tired of it, I can't ever be somewhere else without missing New York. It's simply beyond compare.

New York, to me, is the best city to live in. The more time I spend away from it, the more that I realize it.

Thanksgiving Day parade...Christmas in NYC is awesome. Shopping at Macy's, Rockefeller Center, walking through Central Park, drinking some hot chocolate, and watching the kids learn how to ice skate...so many great things about the city.

Yes.. and then those people are paying more expenses for cars, and stuff, which we don't need here. At the end of the day, it just about balances out, but people don't like to see it that way, because they like their lifestyle better, and only choose to criticize ours.

Scagnetti is on a distinguished road
puerto rican day parades, west-indian block parties, dollar vans, quarter-waters, greek festivals, bodegas, barbershops on every corner with barbers who know every style, timbs with shorts, the D train, the Hub up there in the BX, the accent(s), downtown BK, hearing new music and seeing new styles before anyone else in the world does, italian bakeries(RI bakeries are a close 2nd though), Kingsbridge shopping plaza, 125th, 181st & St. Nick, Gino's pizza in Sunset Park....a small part of what makes NYC special
