Hi

Back in early April i signed a sublease to rent coop beginning June 1. Sent in all applications material to the Board. However, we still have not heard from the Board to schedule an interview.

The owner keeps telling me the Board is not strict, but as it gets closer to June 1 I'm becoming worried I won't have a place to live! My husband and I have great credit and good income, so I can't imagine why we would be rejected, but I'm worried nonetheless.

Thinking at some point we're going to have to break the lease - though I'm not sure we'd really be breaking it b/c our sublease says that the lease is subject to Board approval - so technically, if we withdraw our application we'll never receive Board approval. Anyone ever heard of anyone else in a similar situation?

Any recommendations of when you think it's fair to the owner to back out and say I'm looking for a new place? I really do want the apartment, but I also want to make sure we have AN apartment come June 1, and don't want to have to scrammble that weekend to find an apartment to move into in 2 days. Any suggestions?

The owner has already contacted the property manager on 2 occasions, and been told the Board is still reviewing the application. Any advice much appreciated!

I'm surprised that the shareholder isn't pushing harder. The shareholder needs to contact the board president ASAP and get the application reviewed.

Trump doesn't build co-ops - just condominiums.

And, no, not a Trump building.

Thank for your response Viral. I contacted the property manager today who said she would email the board. And, the shareholder said if there's still no word by monday she'd contact the board directly.

Sorry V but you are mistaken. Trump Village in Brooklyn was built as Co-ops in the early 60's (by Don's father). Within the past three years members of that co-op became eligible to rent (sub out) or sell thier apartments. Here is the link for the sale of them Trump Village Realty.

17 years ago, my <husband then> bought a coop in Queens, we had great credit scores, gainfully employed jobs for well over 15 years, big chunk of a down payment were not approved for months, it took 10 months to move in.

redheadstar,

Consider perhaps starting new threads rather than pulling 4 year old threads from the archives.
