Nice article in today's Times about my neighborhood ! It should be read by anyone looking for a nice ,very diverse and very affordable neighborhood and by folks who know little about The Bronx other than what they have heard or seen from the 1970's. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/17/re...ref=realestate
Great article, thanks for sharing. My wife grew up in this neighborhood until her family moved in the late 70s for greener pastures in Westchester as she approached middle school age. But she remembers a lot of it and comes back to shop, etc. here often (thinks it's pretty safe) and introduced me 10 years ago to a great barber in the area her family used/uses and I still use to this day. Also to a great Italian restaurant the article didn't mention called the Venice that we still go to. I also in that vein recommend the 3 Boys from Italy pizza shop on the corner of Burke Ave. and White Plains Rd. (albeit that's on the edge of the neighborhood).
Hey, I grew up on Stillwell Ave. and the neighborhood still is the same today as it was back then. I'm talkin 45 years ago.
